adam, our landlord, invited us to his place, literally four doors down in the same building via the outdoor 'hallway', for a bbq/party last friday night. since the weekend here is thursday & friday, it was the equivalent of a sunday night.
shroom, smiley & i all had a blast! adam throws a damn good party. 
smiley had everyone eating out of the palm of his hand. he absolutely adores adam & was ordering him around the house asking him to carry him here & there. adam complied, of course. lol! 
one of adam's guests was also very taken with him & he seemed to like her quite a lot as well. it was lovely to see him interacting freely & happily with others.
i made a few new friends & exchanged phone numbers with most of the girls at the party. they got my mobile number & i happily put them in the contacts on my brand new mobile phone. one of the girls lives three doors down in the same building & has a friend coming to visit soon so said she'd let me know when she's taking her out & will invite me along. it'll be nice to have a girls' night out. it's been a while.
it was an awesome party. since all shroom & i had to do to get home was to walk outside & then upstairs to our bedroom, we had a few drinks & could relax. it was really nice.
most of the girls that came to the party are air hostesses. from what i've heard, they work hard & play even harder. this was confirmed first hand. lol!
the life of a single air hostie is very different to the lives that shroom & i live with a little one. i wouldn't swap it for quids, but it was fun to watch.
megan's man, ben - 08:18 PM

my friend, megan, now has her man here in bahrain. when i first met megan at a bbq to which we were invited a day or so after i arrived in bahrain, ben was visiting bahrain & was considering moving here. he's now here.
he's had the job of looking after madeline in the afternoons. usually megan's mum looks after madeline while megan's at work, but she's away at the moment. madeline goes to school in the mornings four days a week, so there was one day where ben had her for the whole day. he rang me that morning & asked if i'd like to bring smiley over so that the two of them could keep each other amused. i was very pleased to do so, since i'd had a very late night the night before (i'll blog about that shortly) & i wasn't sure how i was going to handle smiley all on my own being as tired as i was.
so i took shroom to work & then went to spend the day with ben & madeline. i'm pleased to say that we all had a very nice day. the two kids played together really well. so well, in fact, that ben & i even got to finish a conversation or two. amazing! lol!
i was treated to a cooked lunch (a delicious omellete with some potato thrown in) which we ate with megan since she came home for lunch.
ben is really nice & he & i get along really well. this is the first time i've ever had a proper friend (as opposed to boyfriend or husband, that is) of the male persuasion. it's good. it's different. i get to hear the viewpoint from the other side. lol!

there are some cute pics up at flickr of smiley & madeline from when shroom & myself took smiley out to meet megan, ben (that's megan's boyfriend) & madeline at the toys r us play area at the seef mall & then afterwards for lunch at chili's.
