driving in australia or bahrain - 04:01 PM
(filed under 'bahrain')
now that i've finally got used to driving on the right side of the road in bahrain, i've had to start driving on the left again now that i'm back in australia for a month. it's not so bad if there are other cars on the road, but if the street is quiet, then i keep feeling as though i'm on the wrong side of the road.
it's going to be very strange to me when i have to actually get out of the car & pump petrol myself. i've been totally spoiled by the full service petrol stations in bahrain. lol!
hot water tap - 03:58 PM
poor smiley burned his arm in the bath this evening. i went just a few feet away into the kitchen to talk to mum, where i could even still see him & he chose that moment to reach out & turn off the cold tap that was running into the bath. the hot tap was running as well, so when the cold water stopped, there was only hot water coming out.
my poor little sweetie gave a big scream & i ran to turn off the hot & turn the cold on & put his arm under it. mum helped me put him into a towel & got some ice inside a wet tea towel. i know ice isn't meant to be good, but it wasn't directly on his arm, so i think it was okay.
i kept his arm cool for about ten minutes & it seems to have avoided any damage, because his skin looks absolutely fine.
i felt so bad because i should have explained to him the difference between the taps here & the ones in our house in bahrain. in our house there, all the taps are the flick-mixer type where you control the hot & the cold water from the one tap & he's quite practised at turning the water on & off in the bath without any temperature adjustment. i guess he was just trying to do the same thing, but i hadn't explained to him that when there's a separate control for hot & cold, if he turns off one tap that the water will come out either scalding hot or totally cold.
my poor little baby. i'm so glad he's okay. i was so worried.
