i'll be missing him - 10:19 AM

i leave for thailand tomorrow at about midday. i'm all packed (except for toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush etc) & ready to go.
this will be the longest time that smiley & i have been away from each other. i'm sure he'll be fine with nanna & poppy & will have a lot of fun. he might miss me a little bit, but i hope he doesn't get too upset & think that i've gone away forever.
audrey had a good idea with regard to my suitcase. i was thinking originally that i didn't want smiley to see me pack it into the car, because he knows that a suitcase means someone going away for at least a little while & if he then didn't leave with me & the stuitcase, he'd be very confused & concerned. audrey suggested that not only do i not let him see the suitcase going into the car, but i also take away the suitcase from the bedroom a few days before i pack it. that way, he sees the suitcase gone while i'm still here & won't necessarily relate the lack of a suitcase to me being absent.
i hope he doesn't get too worried that i'm not coming back. i've told him a few times that i'm going to go & visit daddy for a few days, so i hope he's been listening & knows that i'm only gone for a little while.
i've asked my sister to pick up smiley a couple of times to bring him to play with her girls. they all get along really well & smiley has even liked going along with monica to pick up the girls from school. it'll be good for audrey & rudi to have a break & for smiley to have some other kids to play with.
i know that i'll miss smiley a lot more than he'll miss me, but that's the way it should be.
He's such a good natured kid i'm sure he'll be fine! You'll all have a great time and the week will be over before you know it!. Then you'll all be happy to see each other again!. You'll call or e-mail a few times while your gone won't you, so you'll know what's going on!.

i agree with audrey - dont hide it from you that you are going - he's old enough to know - have a fantastic time in thailand - will be like a 2nd honeymoon!
