last night i ate a dish that kalyani made for us. she doesn't usually cook for us these days. she made this with her own ingredients, out of her own money .. just to be nice, i guess. 
it's a chicken & rice dish & it's quite tasty. i saw what i thought was a green bean in it & added it to my spoonful of rice & chicken & then ate it.
turns out it wasn't a bean. my mouth was on fire!! i should have just spat out the mouthful, but for some reason i kept chewing & swallowed it as fast as i could while i practically ran to the fridge & poured myself a big glass of milk. it didn't really help.
i went to the bathroom mirror & stuck my toungue out, fully expecting to see skin coming off or my tongue all red or black or something. it was that hot, that i really did think i was going to see some physical manifestation of burning on my tongue.
that's the last time i assume a long green thing in a dish made by a sri lankin woman is something as innocent as a green bean. rotfl!!
