getting it together - 05:51 AM

things are coming together nicely.

i've now organised the phone & the internet for my new place. the phone's not connected yet, but it will be within a few days, all going well. the internet will take a bit longer, but i won't have any access until my computer arrives from bahrain, anyway. hopefully that won't take too much longer.

i also have transport! i am now the proud new owner (almost, we're still arranging transfer of the rego etc) of a 1993 emerald green ford festiva. it's melanie's old car, fiona, since she bought a new one. i've been driving her around for a couple of days now & i've been enjoying her immensely. she's a lovely little car. i'll take some pics as soon as i can, but if melanie pipes up, she may be able to link to a good pic she might already have. *wink*

separated - 05:39 AM

some of you might already know about this, since i've spoken to some of you via email already. most of my family already have an idea & all of shroom's family know also, so i can send it out into the world wide web.

shroom & i are separated. we don't have plans to get back together, but we're still on good terms, as you might have wondered since we just had a small family holiday in thailand. it's the first family holiday we've had & will be the last now, obviously.

originally, the only reason we came through thailand was because shroom was going there anyway & it's one of the routes to australia from bahrain. we thought it might be nice for shroom & smiley to be able to spend a bit of time together before he goes off into the wild blue yonder to do whatever he decides to do, so we made it for a few days instead of just an overnight stopover for smiley & i.

it's been going downhill for quite a while. the last four years has sucked quite a bit, in fact, but there have still been some good things amongst all the strife. i won't go into great detail, but it basically comes down to two things. i had a libido issue for quite a number of years (i.e. i had none) & then i became involved with someone else briefly. neither of us knew how to deal with those two issues to overcome them & so it's finally come to this. we tried counselling & various other ways to work through it, so we didn't decide to give up, just like that.

we're both happy to be moving on with our lives & we're both looking forward to the positive changes which we can now start to put into effect.

you might have had a clue, but when i've been talking of 'we' & 'our' when i've spoken of our move to australia & the new house etc, i was talking about smiley & i.

i'm excited to be independant (well, dependant on the government for income, but i'm so lucky to live in a country where they'll support a single stay-at-home mum) & making my own decisions about my life & what i'm doing day to day, so everything's good.

i have been & will continue seeing a counsellor regularly, which has been absoultely wonderful & very beneficial. i can't recommend the services of a good counsellor enough. she's been a lifeline & a great support, as have my friends who have known what's been going on for the last four years & beyond.
