settling in slowly - 10:50 AM

smiley & i are settling into our new place slowly but surely.

there are built in wardrobes in the two bedrooms, but no shelving or drawers, so i haven't been able to put away any of our clothes yet. i could hang up a lot of our stuff, but i've been working on other things up until this point. smiley's staying overnight at nanna & poppy's place, so maybe i'll do that tonight since smiley won't be there to 'help' me. lol! *chuckle* i've been looking at some really great drawers at ikea which i hope to purchase over the next month or so.

i've got the kitchen mostly organised. not everything is in its proper & permanent place yet, but it's all accessible & i have mostly everything i need to be able to cook. i have a couple of big knives in the stuff that's missing, so i'm going to have to borrow some bigger knives from audrey until they arrive. then again, i'm at mum's place for dinner tonight (thus the computer access to blog) so i might ask her if she has any i can borrow for a little while.

entertainment for smiley & i is almost all sorted. we have the tv & the dvd player set up, so smiley can watch his favourite dvds & we can hire some more from the video shop down the road. once i borrow a computer from dad & tosca to tide me over until the rest of my computer stuff is found, then smiley can play on his favourite websites, & i can blog & surf whenever i want to, too. of course, we have bucket loads of his toys from nanna & popy's place already, so he has all those things to play with as well.

i'm not sure if i've said this before, but i have to thank rudi & audrey & mum & bill for going above & beyond the call of duty in helping to set up our place ready to move into even while i was still out of the country. they put beds in there, filled the pantry, filled the kitchen drawers, moved in a machine complete with washing detergent etc, all enabling smiley & i to move into it the second night that we were back in oz. it's wonderful to have such supportive family around me. *smile*

i've already said thanks a few times to them in person, of course.
