more sorting & putting away - 07:20 PM

i've just emptied another box. this one was mostly full of my underwear. seriously, i have no idea how on earth i've collected so many g-strings! i used to wear them all the time, but then i went off them & have been mostly wearing men's undies. i didn't actually buy the men's undies for me, they were some which i'd bought for shroom which were way too small & it turned out they fit me. they're the most comfortable & long wearing undies i've ever worn. i think if i ever need more, i'll just go straight to the men's undies again.
i've also got a small collection (& i do mean small this time, there are only about four or five sets) of matching undies & bras, or undies & camisole thingies. they're really lovely. some of them won't fit me anymore (post-baby) but i'm going to keep them anyway, because i plan to be able to fit into them again. some still fit me now & so i've made a bit of a resolution to actually wear them occasionally, whether i have a reason or not. why shouldn't i feel pretty underneath my clothes .. even if it's just for me?
most of those things have gone into the shelving area of my new headboard thing. i'm so glad i got that .. & at such a bargain price, too! life is good when you have functional storage space. hehe. 
so that's one more empty box, now added to the ever-growing pile of boxes stacked up against one wall of my garage. unless i want to take months to get rid of it all, i might have to ask rudi if he can help me with a trip to the dump. unless there's anyone nearby who needs moving boxes. there'll be plenty more where those came from since i still have at least five yet to unpack. that's not even counting the ones which will hopefully soon be on their way from bahrain! mind you, not all that many of my boxes are left to arrive.
it's nice to start getting things sorted out. it makes me feel calmer & more settled. good for mummy & good for smiley, too.

much to my joy, there's a laundry chute in my new house!
the way it's been built, though, it's only partly functional. the bottom of it is really shallow, so things start dropping out of it onto the floor of the laundry after only four or so items have been thrown down from upstairs.
i could have bought some sort of basket for the bottom, but the space is quite small, so i had difficultiy finding a basket which would fit. my solution was to build a kind of removable catcher to attach to the side of the space. i made it from two old coat hangers & a mesh laundry bag.
i'm pretty pleased with how well it turned out. i paid a fair bit of attention to making sure the mesh was sewn on completely straight. not only was i being anal about it because it might not have fit over the frame right if i hadn't been careful with it, but i knew that it would bug me everytime i saw it if the fabric was all skewiff.
the stretchiness of it has actually pulled in the middle of each long side a smidge, but it still covers the space properly. it's held on by two hooks at the top & one hook at the bottom with that hook placed upside down so that you stretch out the bottom of the frame slightly to unhook it.
i do so love a laundry chute. i was so stoked after i'd moved in & realised it was there! not only are they practical, but there's just something so satisfying & fun about dropping stuff down the hole & seeing/hearing it fall to the bottom. smiley likes it, too. lol!
