well, karaoke vampire boy has definitely gone, but i still have a neighbour who gets on my nerves a fair bit. this one is over the back fence.
she doesn't play loud music, but instead is so often yelling at her kids. she's obviously stressed because no one talks to their kids like that unless they're not dealing well with some aspect of their life. it really negs me out. it's a nice relief when she actually talks to them in a normal & friendly tone of voice.
one thing it has done is to make me listen more to how i speak to smiley, especially when i'm a bit stressed because he's trying to assert his will or some such thing. when i first heard her talking like that, i realised that i was doing the same thing occasionally. i don't want anyone to hear me with smiley & think the things that i think when i hear her talking that way.

The couple next to me shout at their kids regularly, and as a result, their son cries loudly many, many times each day. One day I heard him crying so hard he sounded like he was going to throw up. In the meantime, his father is shouting 'Shut UP! STOP CRYING'. Eventually he was only sobbing quietly but even then his father was still shouting. It took all my will not to stick my head out the back door and say 'No, dude, YOU shut up.'
