swimming lesson pictures - 10:56 AM
i've uploaded the five best pictures of smiley at his swimming lesson yesterday (& one from the day before when i'd forgotten my camera, but took a pic or two with my mobile phone camera).
not so hard after all - 10:31 AM
okay. so it wasn't so hard to fix the sony driver, after all. i just tried reinstalling it again & it's fine now. *phew!*
as for the pictures, well, i have them now, but they're not as great as i thought they were .. one of the perils of using a camera whose lcd display is almost totally dead. oh well. now that i have my new camera i'll be able to get some much better pics.
through the wormhole - 10:12 AM
well, after looking for my misplaced card reader in surely every likely place it could be, as well as some very unlikely places such as on the top shelf of the pantry & in the shelves high above the stove, i've come to the conclusion that it's dropped through a wormhole & is currently sitting somewhere in an alternate universe.
i guess i'll just have to wait until the wormhole opens up & it appears right in front of my face in a place i've already looked in several times.
as for the pics on my old camera: bugger. there are some really nice ones on there of smiley at his swimming lesson yesterday. i might have to work harder at getting the driver reinstalled. i hope i don't have to, but it may come down to uninstalling the new camera drivers. what a pain in the bum.
literally & to the letter - 08:02 AM
kids take things so literally. i suppose it's a good thing.
here's an example. smiley had started a habit of rolling all the toilet paper off the roll so that it was lying in a pile on the floor until there was none left on the roll. needless to say, this was a bit annoying, so i decided to nip it in the bud.
i said that i didn't want him to do that. so that he didn't feel he couldn't take *any* toilet paper off the roll (so that he's not afraid to start wiping his own bum, whenever that might happen) i said that he could roll off a little bit, but if it rolled down as far as to touch the floor, he'd get a time out.
so now, instead, he's rolling it off & bunching it up into a tight ball as he goes so that it doesn't touch the floor. *snorts with laughter*
hmm. not quite what i had in mind. maybe i'll have to be even more specific next time. lol!!
unknown device - 12:16 AM
i've got a new camera. it's a canon powershot S3 IS & it's lovely.
.. but i'm not actually telling about that here, i'm having a whinge because the drivers for connecting my new camera have wiped out the drivers for connecting my old camera (sony DSC-S50). ordinarily, i'd simply take the memory stick out of it & plug it into my card reader to get the last of the pics from the old camera, but i've put my card reader away somewhere safe enough so that i can't actually find it. poo bum.
i've reinstalled the drivers for the old camera, but to no avail. it still says the camera is an unknown device. grrr.
it's too late at night to be mucking around with this now, so i guess tomorrow i'll have another go or else maybe i'll just have a really good look for my card reader instead. it's got to be around here somewhere. i distinctly remember taking it out of a box on the first day or so i was in my new place, long before my computer had arrived, & putting it away .. somewhere .. until it was actually useful to me, i.e. i had a computer to plug it into.
maybe i'll put it into my head tonight that i'll find the card reader tomorrow. then perhaps i'll dream about where it is & when i wake up i'll be able to go right there (wherever 'there' is) to find it.
