visitors arriving tomorrow - 12:33 AM

actually, since it's past midnight, i suppose that technically i have visitors arriving today, but who's being picky?
my friend, nicola, & her hubby, jack, are arriving at about lunchtime. they live in sydney & are driving themselves up north for a bit of a christmas/new year holiday. they'll be staying with me for only a couple of nights, but they're both so lovely, that i wish they'd stay longer.
the last time i saw nicola was perhaps two & a half years ago. yeah, that'd be about right. i'm pretty sure smiley was already walking at the time, so two & a half years sounds right. she & her sister were having a holiday in byron bay. i went to visit them there & ended up staying overnight. we had a lovely evening with delicious organic pizza & some wine.
a good thing about having visitors come to stay is that it means i got around to doing some things i've been meaning to do for ages. there was a whole lot of laundry to do, but aside from that, i wanted to put up a few hooks for hanging various things, make the cover for the ikea lamp, hook up some extension cords behind or along walls so that they weren't snaking along the floor looking untidy, move the boxes & things that were cluttering up the floor beside my desk, reorganise some things in my wardrobe .. stuff like that.
aside from going to the shops for the hooks & taking a short break to buy a subway roll for dinner, i've been at it all day! the only way i managed to do it all is because nanna called smiley this morning to see if he wanted to go shopping with her & then stay overnight tonight, so i've had the whole day to do these things. if smiley had been here it would have taken a week to get all that stuff done, i'm sure. rudi & audrey have been a great help with taking smiley regularly for visits with them. they're really wonderful people. 
so, having rambled on for a bit, i suppose all i need to say now is that if you don't hear much from me for a few days, it's because i'm busy with my lovely visitors.
