eating a lot - 11:34 AM

smiley's been eating like a fully grown adult in the last eighteen hours or so. last night for dinner he ate two & a half chicken shishkebabs (you know, chicken pieces on a stick) & then a fried egg on toast. this morning for breakfast he had two fried eggs on two pieces of toast, then two (smallish) bowls of cereal with milk, as well as a drink of milk, some juice & a small cup of (very, very weak) tea.

surely he's having a growth spurt. i can't imagine how much he'll be eating when he gets to his early teens & really starts growing like a weed!

my grandma (my dad's mum) told me years ago about dad & his brother, gerry. when they were growing boys, she'd take a full loaf of bread for each of them, cut it through the middle, hollow it out a bit, put some fillings into it & then put it back together again like a giant sandwhich. they'd take that to school, eat it by morning tea time & then come home absolutely staaaaarving again. i suspect that this is what i have to look forward to. lol! *chuckle*

one of the kids at work is going through a growth spurt. he's 13 this year and just these holidays gone, his mum packed SIX sandwiches for him for lunch. that's including the 3 apples, 2 bananas and strawberries for him! and a few other things. by the time she came to get him at 4pm, he was starving! lol

Good grief! Girls are much cheaper to feed! LOL
Still, I have memories of my brother aged about 12, eating one of mum's roast dinners (quite humongous) and topping up with half a dozen Weet-bix.

My brother used to get through a loaf of bread a day, easy when he was a teen. He's over six foot now!
