fnell - 12:46 PM
about nanna's custard which smiley was about to eat, he said, "that custard fnells pretty good." ('fnell' is his version of 'smell'.)
i said, "it fnells pretty good, hey?"
he got grumpy & sort of shouted "fnells! fnells!"
so i said, "oh, you mean smells?"
& he nodded seriously & said, "yep. fnells."

apparently children think they're saying the right thing.
Stephanie had a friend at kinder, called Sabrina. We used to say Tigrina? She'd say no! Tigrina!
That's what we said, Tigrina. No! Tigrina!!
she was sure she was saying Sabrina.

Isn't the language of children a wonderful thing?
I remember my nephew, aged 2, staying with nanna, asking for "minimoose" on his toast. Mum said "minimoose? What's that?". He said "Minimoose... you know, vegemite!!"
