he really is clever, i'm sure of it - 09:04 PM
(filed under 'smiley')
i know i'm biased, but i really do think that smiley is rather advanced in many ways. i've been told this by other people as well, so it's not just that i think he's amazing because he's my own little boy. hehe.
he took the blocks out on his own & did this in about five to ten minutes before he called me getting a bit frustrated & asking for help to build the 'house' that's pictured on the lid of the box that holds these wooden building blocks.
i came to look & to help & i almost fell on the floor that he'd built what you see all by himself! okay, it's only a small part of the whole construction shown on the lid, but he's got almost every single colour right & it's all in the right place for the parts that he did build.
this kid spins me out. i'm so sure that when i was three & a half years old that i would not have been able to follow a pattern like that & recreate it perfectly.

That is pretty incredible! Maybe you could look into play groups for advanced/gifted children?
It's called "spatial awareness" and it means that he has an understanding of where things are in a space and how they relate to each other. He's following the pattern- he will probably be very good at maths. Aren't kids just amazing? (And yours in particular, of course! LOL)

Keep encouraging him with toys to create things with and he will start drawing real good pictures, too. He will have a better sense of the shapes after handling them in his own hands... which could lead to a huge collection of pottery and drawings from school at art class.
My Mom saved all of the stuff we made in school anyway.
