power down night - 10:58 PM

it seems tonight is the night for no power. first at home & then in my car. lol!! 
at about 6:30pm the power went out in my house. i took a look out the windows & saw no other houses around me with lights in their windows, so i figured it must have been most people. smiley & i took a walk outside & discovered that it was the way down the street, too.
i rang rudi & audrey to see how wide spread it was & they had power. mind you, they're about a four or five minute drive away, so if they also didn't have power, it would have been very suprising & perhaps a very serious problem. rudi invited us over to cook our dinner there, so smiley & i jumped in the car & headed over. turned out it was quite a way down the street that all the power was out. maybe a two or three kilometre stretch along the main road that i was driving on. even the street lights were out.
so we had our dinner here & smiley got to hang out with his nanna & poppy for the evening. he fell asleep very early for him (at about 8:45pm) & rudi & audrey suggested we stay the night. i wasn't planning to, but then after we'd packed the sleeping smiley into the car, ready to go, the car wouldn't start! the starter motor has been doing some funny things occasionally for about about a week, although only about four times in that seven days. when i started it tonight to come here it was sounding rather sick & i thought to myself that i'd book it in first thing tomorrow morning to get it looked at since it sounded as though it was going to die really soon. sooner than i thought, i guess. doh.
we took smiley back inside & into bed & i'm staying the night after all. i'm glad it happened here rather than at the traffic lights or something. that would have sucked a fair bit.
so in the morning i'll call racq to tow the car up the road to the service centre i was going to take it to anyway & hopefully they'll be able to get it fixed pretty quickly. i've had rather a busy week this last week with lots of driving around, so i'm really glad it happened when it did, with no plans for anything tomorrow & both of us at a nice place to be stranded. heh. 
gotta take care of cars. its sucks whenever they quit working. hope you lights are back on.
At least the computer still works (when there is electricity).

sorry about the electric service. it shouln't take ;ong to fix your car, it
sounds like the starter motor that need to be replaced. thats not to big of a job. good luck
