at three & a half years old, smiley's really forging ahead with his reading & writing skills.
he can sing all of the alphabet song with no mistakes. he also knows what sounds some of the letters make & can tell me some words that start with those letters. he tells me, i don't even prompt him .. & they're words we haven't necessarily done before. he figures them out on his own.
he's recently copied words from books on written them on paper. we used a stencil book to make a paw from blue's clues on some paper & later on when i saw the paper in the lounge room, he'd copied "blue's clues" from the cover & written it on the paper with the paw.
he can also count up to 40! only two or three weeks ago he was counting up to 20 & missed the number 15, but now he can count up to 30 easily & has counted up to 40 a couple of times. he doesn't miss out on any of the numbers at all.
he's so clever.
if fifteen were "fiveteen" it would be easier for him. in the run of 14, 15, 16, 17 18 & 19 it doesn't use its base number of five in its pronunciation. however i know you (as an excellent and patient teacher) will get through this. good job smiley!
i just edited the entry to add his age. i realised that not everybody would know he's only three & a half.
