brilliant article on society today - 01:12 PM
(filed under 'linky lurrve')
i just finished reading a really good (& rather long) article which deals with our western society & how it's part of the cause for the sad state of affairs that we're currently in with unhappy, overworked parents, kids with no goals in life & no sense of responsibilty & the so-called generation gap where we no longer appreciated our elders.
read home economincs, sustainablility & the "mommy wars".

What a fabulous article - it really speaks to me. My husband and I have been married 38 years, and have 3 daughters, all in their 30's. He has worked in a number of jobs, and has been self employed, and I have worked for 22 of those years, but one of us was always home with the kids until they were at uni/living away from home. We also believe strongly that the extended family/dear friend network is vital to maintain everybody's wellbeing and happiness, and that a large income is not necessary for truly successful living. (I'll get off my soapbox now)

Good article, and it really makes me want to go back to freelancing! I love my job, but I would rather do it at home than in an office. So much more freedom and flexibility. When J and I get around to having kids, we'll likely do as we've always done in our relationship and share all the responsibilities between us - work, bills, child-minding, etc. Works for us but each to their own, of course!
