going for a week's holiday - 08:45 PM

i'm leaving tomorrow for a week's holiday! i'm going to sydney first & will stay with hellie & then nicola. wednesday morning i'll head to melbourne to stay with sherry & will fly back to brisbane on saturday evening.
smiley isn't coming with me this time. he'll be spending half of his time with rudi & audrey & half with mum & bill. i'll miss him terribly, of course, but i know he's in good hands.
i expect to have an internet connection available to me for at least part of my time away, but i don't think i'll be spending much time online.
even though i'll be missing smiley, i'm going to enjoy having a break. mind you, while shroom's been back in the country on his way to his new job (he's off to belgium once the work permit has been finalised), smiley's been spending lots of time with him at rudi & audrey's place, so i've had a pretty cruisey week or two in regards to smiley, anyway. it's been nice to see smiley spending so much time with his dad.
so if you don't hear from me over the next few days, i'll be back in just over a week. see you then!

smiley's not shy, i'm glad to see.
there's a new girl in his swimming class & he went straight up to her & asked, "hey! what's your name?"
then he did the same thing with one of the mums sitting at the side of the pool.
very cute.
his confidence seems to be building with his swimming, too. he's not even hesitating now to let lynn hold him & to kick his legs & paddle with his hands. previously, he was quite scared & would cry & not want to do it, even though there was no chance of him sinking with lynn holding him.
he was like that for weeks & i had to bribe him to go to his swimming lessons & to stay in the pool for the whole class, so i'm really happy to see that he's not so frightened anymore.
