fun exploring - 08:42 AM

(entered on my handheld while in sydney & uploaded later.)
i've been quite enjoying exploring around places that i don't know well. yesterday i walked from nicola's place to a particular part of newtown via some back streets. i had a rough idea of the right direction, but i did have to ask someone at one point. i was, in fact, very close already when i asked.
i loved seeing all the gorgeous old terrace houses with their cute little wrougt iron fences & gates & their tiny, but pretty & colourful gardens. there are no houses like that in brisbane. it's a very typical sydney (& melbourne, too, actually) style. most of those houses are at least a hundred years old. that's young in some parts of the world, but considering that australia was colonised just over two hundred years ago, one hundred years is a relatively long time for us aussies.
i'm on the train now to fiona's place. it's on a train line which i haven't been on before. more exploring.
