dead bird - 03:29 PM

a bird just flew into our back window, or maybe the glass doors, & broke his neck. he was still alive for a minute or so & when smiley & i held him on our laps he started to move his head around, so i thought maybe he was okay after all.
.. but then his body jerked a few times & he closed his eyes & was gone. smiley didn't seem to be too bothered at all, but i'm a bit sad that he died. with hardly any back yard to speak of & no tools to dig a hole anyway, i wrapped him in newspaper & put him in a box before placing him gently in the bin outside.
r.i.p, little birdie.

occasionally, smiley likes to play with the eggs. i loathe letting him carry them around, of course, as you never carry eggs around unless you're taking them over to a bench to actually cook with them.
one time, he insisted he wanted to draw on an egg, so i acquiesced & provided him with a pen.
he drew this heart & then told me, "this is so that we know we love each uffer."
can you just hear the hearts melting all over the world? yeah, mine did & even does now.
i think i might have to try to hollow this out so i can keep it forever.
