coldest winter in how long? - 03:16 PM

it's been much colder in queensland this winter than it's been in a long, long time. since about twenty years, they reckon.

a big sign of that today was that i went looking for a little bar heater to use in my freezing cold bathroom. since smiley & i usually shower together & he hogs the shower stream (well, i do allow it, since i prefer that i get cold then he does), i've been freezing my bum (& various other bits) off while i wash myself & stand there wet in the cold air.

i went to buy one in the usual places (kmart, then target was the next option) but they'd run out .. completely! the only place in the whole shopping centre that had any heaters left was crazy clarks.

i know that zero degrees at night (& even slightly warmer) isn't that cold compared to some places, but it's much colder than what we're used to & even than our houses are built for. because queensland is usually a hot place, houses here are built to lose the heat, not keep it in, so i do believe we might be suffering more than those who live in houses that are made to keep the heat in in their much colder environments.

I hear you! I live in Cairns, in a house that is built to be cool, with louvre walls and cool marble floors. Now 9 degrees in the morning is much warmer than YOU'VE been experiencing, but since my winter wardrobe consists of one thin cardigan, and I wear flip-flops instead of cosy slippers, I'm FREEZING. I had to buy a whole heap of warmer clothes, just for this few weeks of chill.

I'll send you a email with some of my 90F heat. But be sure to open it in you house so it will warm it up. LOL

Here is some heat from where I am at.

[%]~~~ *wink*

Right now, I would trade the heat for some cold.
