- (see all news for this day)

at a loose end - 06:42 PM

i finished my classes at uni a few weeks ago & we even had a dinner last week out at a restaurant for the wep (writing, editing, publishing) students. aside from waiting for my results, i'm finished with uni until six months' time when i'll probably choose another subject to keep my learning going.

i was enjoying the extra free time, but now i'm finding that i'm sort of at a loose end. i've been reading heaps (i've read about five books in the last few weeks, so i'm feeling sort of 'read out'), spending some time at the brighthand forums (collecting some ideas & applications to get my palm tx really working well for me), preparing for camping (getting equipment together, checking it all, making a list of things to do), & (shock, horror!) i've even done some housework.

finishing something challenging & time consuming is always good, but the gap that it leaves is sometimes difficult to fill.

there is one thing that i really do need to get onto, & that's a project that i was working on for my mum. it's a crafty thing. it was supposed to be for her birthday, which was in july (!!), but it's obviously going to be a christmas present instead.

i think mum doesn't mind so much, since she's a bit of an academic, & so if there was ever going to be a good reason for her birthday present being so late, her non-academic daughter's studies would be that reason.

besides, even if i do so say so myself, once it's all finished, it's going to be one fairly impressive gift, so i think mum will be happy with it, six months late & all.

mum reads my site (hi, mum!), which is why i'm being deliberately vague about her present.
