housing shortage - 07:40 AM
okay, i know maybe it's a very simplistic view, but far out, if we're getting to that bad of a situation with housing, perhaps we need to think about keeping the population down.
if the solution is to keep building houses, then soon enough there's not going to be a single piece of wilderness left & no animals & wildlife & insects to keep the environment balanced & it'll be all downhill from there.
far out. humans have got to be the worst plague yet to hit the earth. i wonder when we'll be moving to other planets to screw them up, too?

Really? Some parts of the are heavily populated, while others you would not see a soul within eyeshot even if you were a mile up.
No, there is plently of room for people, it just all the good spots (beaches for example) are all taken.

you think its bad there in aussie, you should come to the UK where refugees etc come first on the housing list and the british born people have to wait on waiting lists for housing amongst other things. They come here, get free housing, benefits such as income support, child benefit, free health care etc. Both my husband and I work and pay NI contributions, tax and we have to pay through the nose for everything we get but also supporting these spongers coming into our country who have no intention of working who claim they are seeking 'assylum' in the UK and get EVERYTHING for nothing, it really makes me sick. They think they have it hard, but now our housing situation and health care system has gone to pot because of this. OK Ill get off my soap box now but now Im really angry lol

This is where the idea of 'sustainable urbanization' comes in, which happens to be the subject for the new trimester I just started. It's about decreasing mobility (traffic), smart (re)use of space and similar concepts. I could tell you more once we've done the literature study..

Totally agree with you Coralie!!! It's just depressing. Another thing that depresses me is the amount of waste we humans keep needlessly producing. That's one reason why I find Christmas, or rather the excesses of Christmas depressing - all that paper, crappy rubbishy Christmas decorations etc going into landfill. That's why I'm a grinch when they have Christmas decorating competitions at work etc.I just think of the landfill for stuff no-one is going to keep afterwards.
There are so many people on this earth, plus we're filling it up with more rubbish. And we've turned into such a disposable society. Something loses it's shine, we just buy another to replace it. Sooo depressing.
