trying to impress? - 08:45 AM
i just went through some road works near rudi & audrey's place on the way to & from dropping smiley off there.
they've got half the road blocked off & instead of letting one side through at a time, they're keeping the traffic going one way & sending the other traffic on a detour. i'd already seen it on the way to their house anyway & had used the detour.
on the way back through, going the other direction, the traffic control guy stopped me to ask if i was going to be coming back through that way again today. he then continued to tell me, <affect deep man-trying-to-impress voice here> 'we're keepin' the traffic mono-directional today.'
mono-directional?? what?! he couldn't have just said, 'we're keeping the traffic going one way today.'? i'm sure that mono-directional is a perfectly acceptable word, but still. talk about trying to sound impressive. sheesh. lol!
Almost every road is being worked on around here and the flaggers never say a word to anyone. They just wearily wave traffic through and stop traffic to allow traffic from the other side to pass by.

i've listened to stereo while in traffic, but never though i had been in stereo directional traffic. would stereo directional mean i'm going both ways at once? hmmm!
