rain - 04:24 PM
(entered on my handheld while at the woodford folk festival & uploaded later.)
it's raining. it's been doing so on & off since yesterday evening, but has been pretty solid since around lunch time.
we came prepared except for an umbrella. i was ready for really heavy, pouring rain with a hooded poncho (plastic one cut to size) for smiley, an oversized (literally sizes too big. it's an XXXL, i think) rain jacket for me, & gumboots for both of us. i didn't really think about lighter, constant rain, though, where you really only want to keep it off your head & don't want to be all covered up.
so i didn't bring an umbrella. i sort of preferred not to have to carry one around. that, as well as the fact that the one i own is one that folds up to almost nothing & it's great for emergencies of getting caught in the rain, but pretty much only that, since it's also tiny when it's opened up.
i saw someone carrying a really cool umbrella with rainbow colours, a different colour on each panel, so i asked where they'd bought it & got one for us, too. it's huge, & more than big enough for smiley & i to use it walking side by side.
initially, i thought the size of the tarp i bought for this trip might have been overkill for just two tiny people, but i'm pleased now, since there's lots of room to move about under it, even with the rain.
the rain's not stopping anyone. there are heaps of people milling around all over the place. i guess when you're prepared for rain, & even expecting it, then it's not going to stop you from enjoying yourself.

i'd think you were lost in a xxxl jacket. the umbrella sounds like the ones made for golfers.
