smiley just called out from the lounge room to ask me, 'mum. are you pregnant yet?'
i looked up in surprise & said, 'huh? pregnant? why do you want me to be pregnant?'
he then replied, 'because i want a friend.'
ohhh. kind of cute & kind of sad & sweet at the same time.
i didn't even know that he knew that me being pregnant meant that he'd get a 'friend'. i'm sure i must have explained it to him at one time, but i didn't realise he was listening so well.

in the last week or two, smiley seems to have suddenly graduated from 'mummy' & 'daddy' to just 'mum' & 'dad', instead.
i'm not sure why. perhaps it's something he's seen on tv.
it's kind of sad for me. i liked hearing 'mummy' from him. hearing him call me 'mum' instead reminds me that he really is growing up & he's no longer my little baby. really, he'll always be my baby to me, but i guess he's starting to become a grown up baby.
*sniff* 
i am pleased to see him grow into a little boy instead of a baby, but it's kind of bitter sweet, you know?
