not a sleep over after all - 08:38 PM

smiley was very possibly going to have a sleep over at his nanna & poppy's tonight after going there for the afternoon, but they just called to say that he wants to come home. yay! 
since i have my crochet club on tomorrow, we'll be apart for most of tomorrow, so i'm glad he wants to come home tonight.

the other day, smiley & i started talking about eggs. human eggs, that is. you see, somehow we'd started talking about how a baby grows from an egg. he wanted to see a picture of a human egg, so i took out the excellent pregnancy book that my sister gave me years ago when i went off the pill to become pregnant with smiley.
i showed him the pictures in there of what an egg looks like. he was fascinated with the diagrams in there & he asked me which bits were what. so i pointed out the various bits in the diagrams of the female reproductive system, telling him the proper names & then describing in terms he could understand what those various parts were for. that's where the poo comes out, that's where the wee comes out, that's where the baby comes out, etc.
he was so interested that he even turned over the corners of the pages that he really liked so he could come back to them later.
so on thursday afternoon, we were on our way home from his home education group play time with the other kids, when he started to tell me the difference between boys & girls. i thought to myself, 'this'll be interesting.'
he told me how you could tell who was a girl & who was a boy & he started to say, 'girls have got ..' & then he paused.
i held my breath for a moment, thinking, 'goodness me. is he about to tell me about vaginas??'
& then he continued with, 'girls have got pretty names.'
