wow. sometimes smiley does things that are so smart for his age that it kind of scares me.
his dad gave him a puzzle a week or so ago. mostly he's just been using the individual pieces to build things, but just now, he was putting the puzzle together in the way that it's supposed to go together.
there's only one way to put this thing together. i did it once, but i didn't even attempt it without the instruction sheet in front of me. smiley did not use the instruction sheet. he may have done it once or twice with the solution in front of him, but if he did, it was at least a week ago.
even if he has just memorised how it goes from doing it once or twice from the instruction sheet, i'm still blown away.
when he did it, he wasn't frustrated or anything & he did it about three times in less than ten minutes. he was so relaxed about it that he was kind of chatting to himself & making up a story about it at the same time.
remember that smiley is only four & a half years old.
very clever indeed. smart kid, takes after his mom.

it's a pattern recognition thing, I think. smiley is into patterns in a big way, isn't he?
