old camera, new camera - 12:21 PM

smiley's camera, the sony cybershot u which used to be mine, was then passed onto adrian when we broke up, & then he gave it to smiley, has broken. i'm not sure what's wrong with it. smiley was always really gentle with it. i'm really proud of how careful he was with it, in fact. i guess it just reached the end of its life.
it was working fine, but then last week i turned it on & the display went away immediately. i figured the batteries had died, so i tried new ones. it still didn't turn on. i thought maybe the batteries had just not been used in too long & had lost their charge, so i charged them again. still no dice.
i was telling this to bruce the other day when i was allowing smiley to extremely carefully use my own very nice canon powershot S3 IS & i was really nervous about it. he suggested that i let him use the camera on my old mobile phone. excellent idea. i have no idea why i didn't think of that.
it's much more his size & i know it's pretty tough since i've dropped it quite a few times & it's (mostly) survived. anyway, i've made sure he's very clear on the fact that he still has to be very careful with it.

recently my friend, dave, sent me a link to some video of this amazing little girl, connie talbot. in the video, she's only six years old. apparently they entered 'britain's got talent' for a bit of a family day out. she's never had singing lessons, but has this amazingly natural talent of singing.
the video goes for just under five minutes & is really worth watching. it shows some of the intro featuring her before she appears on the television show 'britain's got talent'.

she's worth googling to see more video of her on youtube & on her official site, too.
this is one person who i would say was definitely born to be a singer. to have a voice like that, at such a young age, with no formal training, is truly amazing.
