build a model solar system - 03:52 PM

smiley's really enjoying his orrery, that is, the model of the solar system which we've been building every week as each magazine comes out. he's getting so much joy from it & it's lovely to see him have such fun ..

.. but by god, it's getting damn frustrating trying to find the planets every time the stupid thing falls over or he plays with it & drops one or he puts it right where my feet are & then i knock it over when i get up from the chair.

& this is with me being strict about where it goes & him not playing with it all over the house. i'm going to have to be even more strict about it, because i'm just about to go crazy from looking for the stupid damn planets that are smaller than the size of a very small pea.

grrrrr. i'm so very annoyed. i've already paid another damn $15 for a whole new issue of one he already had when he took it to his nanna & poppy's place to build it with his dad (which didn't happen anyway) & he lost one of the stupid tiny grub screws. $15 for a damn screw. ugh! i would have been happier if i'd had to pay that for one of the planets, at least.

mercury is currently lost because of the last reason mentioned above. stuffed if i'll be buying a whole new issue again!

Could you find a clear display case (more like a clear acrylic cube really) that you can place it in, or place over top of the whole thing when he's not adding to it or using it? I'm not sure how big it is, but there are many sizes of cases meant for collector's items like dolls, statues, etc that are easily accessible. Just a thought. I know that must be frustrating!
