first time ever to whipper-snip - 04:59 PM
(filed under 'general')

my mum was so sick of seeing the long grass i my back yard that she bought me a whipper-snipper (i think some call them a weed whacker) yesterday. pretty nice, i thought. *smile*

saves me money paying others to do it (or, more to the point, putting off paying others to do it), or having to beg friends to do it, or wait for them to wake pity on me & offer to do it. heh.

anyway, it's the first time i've ever done a lawn, whipper-snipped or mowed. i think i may have had a push of a mower once or twice, but obviously not enough to actually remember the event. so i got to 36 years old without ever mowing a lawn.

not sure how i managed that. i guess i've always been in places where there was a man around to do it, or else it was taken care of by the real estate agent.

how is that guys always get so dirty doing the lawn? i'm talking about the same tiny lawn that i just did. i only got a bit of grass at the bottom of my jeans & under the soles of my shoes. most times someone else has done it for me, they've ended up with grass & dirt all over themselves. is it a badge of honour or something? or maybe it's just that mum helped me to pull all the weeds out of the pavers by hand yesterday.

anyway. it's a historic occasion for me, so i thought i'd mark it with a blog. heh. *chuckle*

Gives you that sense of satisfaction doesn't it!! So nice to look at things and appreciate how tidy it is now. (Can you come do mine now?)

i used to always cut our grass. however, after routinely taking out flower beds the wife made me quit and get a steady lawn man. i always believe in doing things concisely and working around things that kept me from doing that didn't make sense to me. it used to take me 4 hours to do the lawn, a professional lawn man gets it done in 40 minutes and doesn't take out her flower beds either. ....and yes, i did get dirty. lol!!
