it's moving day! - 07:11 AM

today is the day! today i get the keys for the new place & i start moving in. bruce is helping me today with all the heavy stuff. i've borrowed jo's awesome van for three days so he & i can fill it up to the brim. he's got a four wheel drive with lots or space in the back, so we'll fill that up, too.
i've got mostly everything packed, except for a few small bits & pieces which i've left out for us to live with while everything else is in boxes. since i'm moving myself over the course of three days, i don't need everything completely packed away super safely into boxes as i would if i was paying a moving company. in that way it's a bit easier to be doing it myself, even though it'd be just a one day process with removalists.
after the shifting has been done, i have to do the cleaning. everything else is on track, though, so i don't think i'll have too much trouble getting the cleaning done. i have the carpet cleaner/pest control guy booked in for the very last day i have the keys for this place, so that's all sorted.
i took this last weekend off work to pack, otherwise i would have had exactly 2.5 days to pack. i'm hoping i'll be able to get the cleaning done before the weekend so i can don't have to take another weekend off. we'll see. even though i'll be kind of dead on my feet by then, i'd prefer not to miss another weekend of work.
there shouldn't be much/any time away from being online except maybe tonight. you see, i forgot about getting the electricty connected at the new place & when i did it online on friday night (when i realised that i hadn't done it yet!), the dates they allowed for connection of the new place started only on wednesday, tomorrow. i have some camping gear that i can use if i need to cook anything, but i'm not sure i'll be wanting to cook tonight, anyway. if i need light, i know which box the candles are in.
smiley's spending another day at rudi & audrey's house with his dad today, so if he's back with me tonight i might come back here so he can at least have his computer to play on. otherwise perhaps i can dig out monopoly & we can play that at the new place by candlelight, instead. if he's not with me tonight, then .. oh, i don't know. i'll make that decision tonight. *shrugs*
i'll give another update as soon as i can.
