cats
okay, now i don't hate cats. not at all. it's just that i'm a dog person.
i think we are born either dog people or cat people, & dog people & cat people should not try to mix on a deeper level than friendship. it just doesn't seem to work .. has anyone seen 'war of the roses'? hmmmmm?
i believe cats have as much right to be here as any of us, but why do they have to be so damn nasty about it? they could say 'please' & 'thank you' once in a while. dogs say please all the time. just look at their eyes & they're asking nicely. they are always so thankful for everything too. even just a little pat & they love you forever. cats on the other hand never ask unless they have an ulterior motive.
cats don't ask, they take. they don't give, they just take again. even if they come & sit next to you it's not because they love you, it's because they want to keep warm or something.
now i may be completely misreading cats here & i'm not out to offend cat people. i have friends who have cats that would be some of the cooler cats that i know of. perhaps it's just that i don't understand them.
it seems to me though that you don't own cats, they own you .. & you don't have them in your house, they allow you to live there. i'm sure even cat lovers would agree with me there.
i have a theory that the reason a lot of cat people don't like dogs is the same reason that many dog people do like dogs. i love the fact that dogs just adore you to bits & pieces & are so dependant on you.
i recall something our vet told us once about cats and dogs.. the main difference about how you interact with them is that dogs are willing to accept you as their master and superior, whereas cats are not. they have a different psychology, as a species, and they want to be the boss. (or at least to *think* that they are the boss
I think Mosi is quite different from most cats. She really does seem to be genuinely affectionate. And much as I love Jeffrey, I think I'm a cat person
Cats cover their poo, and for that I am enternally grateful.
I love cats, but I couldn't eat a whole one.
I got a real chuckle out of ". . . I couldn't eat a whole one" then instantly remembered the claim that one never sees cats near a Chinese restaurant. . .
I am a cat person. Why?
Hmm, lets see:
Cats: Clean themselves, eliminate vermin from around the house, don't require a license (in my state anyhow), are capable of surviving on their own. Seldom run in front of a car. Cover their poo, purr, and don't drool on you.
Dogs: Stink, rarely do anything useful around the house (unless trained), require licenses and vet bills, seldom make out on their own, often run in front of cars, bark, drool on you, poop on the carpet, and pee in the kitchen.
If you like dogs, you probably enjoy having someone around that depends on you. If cats are your thing, you probably don't enjoy dependencies in general. Just an observation...
yeah dogs might be more work and take a little more responsibility but that's because that have way more personality and potential. But c'mon it's not that much more work unless your are 8 years old and the most u do in a day is learn how to multiply, divide and spell. Dogs actually like to interact with you, unlike most cats i know that hiss if u come w/in 10ft of it. Who wants a pet, that is "independent". That is just a nicer word that cat people use for boring. The point of having a pet is taking care of it as if it's your own, unlike my neighbor's cat that sleeps on a chair that is on my front porch all the time and my boyfriend's neighbor's cat that is always on his car b/c it's a common thing to see them rome everywhere. And just from roming your neighbors probably know your cat as well as you do if you have one. Goes to show how deep and important that relationship is. Cats are just a waste of money and smell up the house with their stink box.
Uhm, no
I'm going to have a dog though as soon as I have a house with a large garden in a countryside village too.
