caterpillar - 08:36 AM

this would have to be one of the best pictures i've ever taken. it was pretty much a total fluke. i just put the camera on the macro setting, pointed it, framed it & pressed the button.

the caterpillar was on an oleander which we'd bought ready to put into the garden, but which was still in its pot. when i saw a few of them crawling over the plant, i expressed displeasure to shroom, because i thought it was bad for the plant, but shroom just said, "they're okay. they're just doing what caterpillars do." good point.

so we left them there & they eventually turned into butterflies. we brought the pot, with plant & chrysalises (chrysalii?) into the house & pointed one of the webcams at it. we managed to capture one of the butterflies coming out. it was pretty amazing. *smile*

Thank you so much for providing me with this photo. It put a fantastic touch to my analogy I wrote for a kids.us website. You can see how it is being used here.

Warm regards,
Steve
