washboard - 09:07 PM
i'm almost dead sure that you can't buy these anywhere, except maybe in places like italy where ancient great-great-grandmothers who have shrunk to about four foot tall, but can still crush you when they hug you, still use them.
audrey (shroom's mum) used hers while i was staying there last week & i thought it was way cool. rudi (shroom's dad) made it for her & i figured that i could make one too.
i almost made it all by myself, except that the nails we bought were too fat & were splitting the dowling (i told shroom they were too fat!) so i brought the bits to rudi & he helped me finish it. i did all the glueing & nailing, but he provided the glue & the (very skinny) nails, & of course, the tools with which i put it all together.
i'm rather pleased with the way it turned out.

what a great idea & you've done a fantastic job!!
He he... yes, you're right: in Italy we do still have them, inherited from grandparents... and they often come handy when some washing needs to be done
the list of your talents never stop. atta boy, girl!!
but what is it for??
like, i know what they are for but why do you need it, is what i mean. what's wrong with a washing machine?
it's good for when i already have stuff soaking in the machine (like riley's nappies) or i'm not ready or don't have the time to do a load, or if i only have one item which i want to quickly wash.
That's awesome! It might inspire me to make something like that...or con a relative to make it for me!
Did you use nails that won't rust? You don't want rust stains on your clean clothes.
Hi Coralie
Yes here in Argentina you can get wash boards, and even the laundry sinks come with built in plastic washboards, they are very easy to use and clean your clothes like nothing eles.
You clever thing!!
