ninn-ty

i was in grade one at the time. some guy from a bank came to talk to us, i guess about money & saving & that sort of thing. he was writing numbers down on the board & asked if anyone knew how to to spell 'ninety'. one of the kids said "n..i..n..t..y". the bank guy said, "no, then it would be 'ninn-ty'!"

it must have tickled my fancy because since then, whenever i come across the number ninety, i always say to myself quietly under my breath, "ninn-ty" & have a little chuckle.
