then there were two

i used to own three goldfish. my friend fiona gave them to me as a birthday present in my early twenties. they were tough fish: they were born & raised in a green bath tub (the water was green, not the actual tub) in the backyard of one of her students. they'd done the hard yard in the tub & were ready for a life of luxury in a gold fish bowl & they did swim happily in that goldfish bowl for about two years.

one fateful day, i came home from work to see that one of my beloved fish had contracted 'bendy-tail disease' & was having a lot of trouble swimming upright. alas, within a week the poor fish died.

i had no reason to suspect foul play until i scooped the unfortunate fish out of the bowl. as soon as he was gone the two remaining fish started swimming around like they were having some sort of party. they were enjoying the extra room .. it was almost as if they'd planned it!

but all must not have been well with the two conspirators. perhaps one of them began to get a case of the guilts & wanted to own up. no less than a month later one more fish was dead .. from the same disease.

coincidence? i think not.

Evil fish!
Yeah my mum has a bathtub in her backyard with fish in it. I think they're made of stronger stuff than the wimpy ones I keep getting for my fish tank... which seem to die after a year or two.
